Understanding clinical and immunological features associated with Pseudomonas and Staphylococcus keratitis

چکیده

Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus are the two dominant Gram-negative -positive species, respectively, isolated from patients with contact lens-related bacterial keratitis. The clinical features of keratitis vary, such that timely differential diagnosis can be challenging, which may cause a delay in resulting poorer outcome. This review aims to explore current understanding immunological associated P. S. based on currently available evidence. Firstly, characterises keratitis, prognostic factors. Secondly, describes primary immune response infection in-vivo non-scratch lens-wearing animal models, colonised by bacteria lens topical administration cornea. Finally, discusses role macrophage inflammatory protein-2 (MIP-2) intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM-1) neutrophil recruitment both scratch models challenged cell culture models.
